Jnanapana, an ethereal journey in spirituality

Dancer/actor Vineeth choreographed Jnanapana, Poonthanam’s outpouring of philosophical devotion, and performed along with actress Lakshmi Gopalaswami and team in Nishagandhi auditorium, to raise funds for and create awareness about Vishranthi's Children's Home and Adoption Centre. The dance-drama was performed at Ambedkar Bhavan, Bangalore, and it was unreal. The performance was kicked off by Dr. Manikantan giving the audience a treat by playing a couple of beautiful bhajans on his flute, and singing in his own mellifluous voice as well. Then the children of Vishranthi got up on stage, shyly, to sing a couple of their own, holding hands, completely unused to this much attention, and finished to a roar of applause. Then – the event the audience had been waiting for all night. The dance was an utterly spiritual experience, with the music, the set, and especially the lighting, contributing fully to the effect. Other dancers included Uthara Antharjanam, Deepthi Vidhu Prathap, Krishnaprabha, Bonny and Renjith. G Sharreth has composed the musical score, rendered by himself, Chitra, Vidhu Prathap, Gayathri Ashok, Dr Manikandan and Krishna Kumar. The verses were arranged by poet S Ramesan Nair.

We'd also like to say a heart-felt thank you to eeryone who helped, contributed, and turned up for the event. We, the elders, and the children of Vishranthi are very grateful indeed, and we hope to see you all again very soon!
